Ty Cobb: Conviction expected by Friday in New York Trump case

A conviction verdict is likely by Friday in former President Donald Trump’s New York business records trial, former Trump administration lawyer Ty Cobb told CNN’s “OutFront” on Tuesday.

“The prosecution has finished their closing arguments. When this case gets to the jury tomorrow morning, how quickly do you think we’ll get a verdict?” Burnett said.

Cobb said, “So I think a verdict will be coming in no later than Friday afternoon. It could be Monday, but I think this case can easily be resolved by the weekend. Friday is usually a reliable day to predict what day a verdict will be reached because jurors don’t want to spend their weekend on this kind of thing and then come back the following week. The jury has three full days to consider it. I think it’s likely to be that day.”

“Okay, so you think a jury will find Trump guilty by Friday? Why?” Barnett asked.

“I think so. I think it depends on a number of factors, but primarily because the jury instructions pretty much require it. The judge is not going to instruct on the level of intent or knowledge that Mr. Trump should have had or should have had with respect to the second crime, which is the campaign finance crime as it is commonly referred to,” Cobb said.
