Warminster Library Re-Introduces Libby To Its eBook Services

WARMINSTER, PA —Libby is here to help.

Did you know you can borrow e-books and audiobooks from your library directly through your tablet or phone?

Thousands of Warminster residents make use of this free service and Warminster Library is hoping to get even more people reading by re-introducing Overdrive’s popular Libby app.

A few years ago, the Bucks County Free Library swapped out Libby for another provider, cloudLibrary, which offers 10,000s of e-book titles but is not compatible with certain commonly-owned Kindle e-reader devices.

With the return of Libby, Kindle users in the region will now have free e-books to borrow again.

Warminster Library has partnered with six other independent Bucks County libraries to re-
introduce Libby.

Patrons who have signed up for library cards at any of the seven locations may download books—primarily adult fiction bestsellers—from the Libby app or at libbyapp.com.

The seven locations are Warminster Library, Free Library of Northampton Township, Southampton Free Library, Free Library of New Hope and Solebury, Pipersville Free Library, Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library, and Township Library of Lower Southampton.

Libby joins a suite of free programs that offer downloadable or streaming e-books, audiobooks,
films, music, and digital comics available through most Bucks County libraries.

To see if you are eligible for certain resources such as Libby or to sign up for a library card, visit the Warminster Library in person or contact them at 215-672-4362.

You can also call to make an appointment for a one-on-one tutorial with a librarian on accessing digital resources.

Here are some of the highlights of Warminster Library’s digital collection:

  • cloudLibrary —Provides access to thousands of bestselling fiction and non-fiction e-books and audiobooks. You can check out up to 10 books at a time and reserve books that are not currently available. cloudLibrary is compatible with most devices, except black-and-white Kindle e-readers (Paperwhite, Oasis, and other models).
  • Hoopla —A very large collection of streaming media that includes e-books, audiobooks, digital comics, music, and video. All material is available all of the time and users can borrow up to 5 items each month. Hoopla includes the Great Courses video series if you feel like taking a scholarly dive into an exciting topic!
  • Libby —A smaller collection of mostly adult fiction titles. Libby is the only platform compatible with black-and-white Kindle e-readers. Users can reserve checked-out titles and borrow up to 3 books at a time. It is only available to Warminster Library patrons and users of other select libraries in the County. If you already have access to Libby through other libraries, you can add your Bucks library card to your Libby account to grow your browsing collection.
  • ComicsPlus —A collection of thousands of streaming comics, graphic novels, and manga. The whole collection is available at all times and users have the option to browse the whole collection or only the children’s collection.
